What is HIPAA?

Answer:
HIPAA is the acronym for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act,

which was enacted by congress in 1996. HIPAA is an act that regulates some aspects of healthcare.

For example, Title I of HIPAA states that group health insurance plans cannot determine rates or eligibility for insured members of the plan based on any type of health status or history. Unfortunately, this does not apply to anyone with an individual medical policy.

Title II of HIPAA is concerned with preventing fraud and abuse in the medical system and other medical administrative issues, specifically those that are related to electronic health care transactions.
