Is my Health Insurance Policy Valid if I Move Out of the Country? |
Answer:
Unless your employer provides your health coverage while you’re living abroad – chances are you’ll need to obtain insurance in the country where you choose to reside. Some countries offer inexpensive or free health services – and some countries don’t have any type of a public health system. If health services are offered, you’ll most likely need to have a legal residency permit in order to participate.
Contact your current health insurance company as soon as you know you’re moving out of the country. They should be able to answer any questions you have about your current health coverage during your move; and, they should also be able to assist you with obtaining the appropriate type of temporary traveler’s insurance, if needed.
