Does my Car Insurance cover my Vehicle if I'm driving in other States?

Answer:
You auto insurance covers you in any state where you may be driving.

However, each state has its own laws as far as how much liability coverage you need to carry. Most insurance policies tend to cover you for the minimum requirements of other states if you are involved in an accident in a state with higher minimum coverages than you carry in your home state. Double check with your particular auto insurance policy to be sure. If you travel into a state that has lower minimum insurance requirements, you still remain insured at your higher levels.

If you are renting a car , the rental company may have restrictions about traveling out of state. Make sure you find out if you are allowed to go out of state if you’ll be renting a vehicle during your travels.

If you travel outside the U.S. into Mexico, your insurance is invalid. You will need to purchase a special Mexican auto insurance policy for the time that you will be driving there. Most U.S. policies extend coverage into Canada.
