Welfare is defined as the state
of economic well being
of an individual, group or the economy which is mainly achieved through various welfare programs.


Welfare is ascertained by initiating different types of Welfare programs which are mainly managed by Government of the concerned country or by some International Institutions or by both.

Welfare programs are generally aimed at providing assistance to the poor, needy and underprivileged people of the society like elderly, disabled, students and unpaid workers. The assistance which is provided for the welfare of citizen mainly consists of different forms of Financial Assistance like monetary payment provided either as lump sum or as pension.

The different welfare programs which are available in U.S. are Medicaid, Food Stamps, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Head Start, Work Study, and Medicare, etc.
Each and every Welfare program is aimed at providing some specific assistance to the individual. It is also necessary that before availing the facility of the Welfare programs one must complete an application for the program which will in turn determine the eligibility of the individual for the program.

There are different Welfare programs which are running in different parts of the world and the terms and conditions for meeting the requirements to avail the benefit of Welfare programs also vary from country-to-country but their overall purpose is almost same i.e. to provide assistance to the poor and underprivileged group.
